That's what we found out today while taking the dog for a walk. When I walked up to the park with my daughter we had the pleasure of having to watch a man urinating in the bushes. Well it makes a change from what you normally get!
Can anybody tell me how to get the attention of Virgin media to put the doors back on the cabinet in Maindenbower Drive. I have called and emailed them over a number of weeks. All they can say is that they sub-contract the work out to another company and the best they can do is to send the sub-contractor a note.
Free Sat' in HD is now available - I'm just waiting for the equivalent of the Vplus record/ delay box to become available and its goodbye Virgin. A one off fee for the installation and box is all you need to pay.
A BIG THANKS to the charming Male Maidenbower Resident who called me a C**T as I dropped off my daughter and another pupil at the busstop in Pallingham Drive this morning, due to having missed it at the shops. I was called a C**T because he had to wait(not even a minute) due to the held up. The fact that you had to take it easy anyway due to the road conditions would not have made him any quicker. But hey, this is again another prime example of Maidenbower's Residents behaviour. Thank God!That my children do no longer go to school here and not have to mix with children that are brought up with the "C U NEXT TUEDAY" attitude. Maidenbower can certainly be classed as chav, vile and no longer the friendly community it once was.
AGAIN THANKS FOR THE CHARMING USE OF LANGUAGE! HOPE YOU ARE PROUD OF YOURSELF!!!

Never knew it was there!!! In East Street in Horsham (park in Piries Place), there is a great shop which sells beer straight from the barrell. The selection is predominantly local (Weltons, Kings, Arundel etc.), but they seem to have 5 or 6 barrels on the go! Prices are good too, with 4 pints for £7.20, or £1.80 a pint. They provide the containers at 50 p each, but they can be refilled.
Lots of bottles too.
Oh, and they're going to have Bateman's Rosey Nosey for Christmas - I'm there!!!

Every weekend I try and visit somewhere interesting last weekend, 12 Oct 2008, I went to Kew Gardens my first visit since the 70s. There is now a walkway 18metres high and 200m long where you walk among the tops of trees its called the Xstrata Treetop Walkway. I used the train to get to Kew it costs about £10.80 return (less if you have certain Railcards). There is so much to see in Kew you won't see it all in one day. But its well worth a visit its such an interesting tranquil place. I've posted a few pictures
My sister got married in Lincolnshire a few weeks ago and I discovered that the house where she had her civil ceremony was 10 miles away from the Bateman's Brewery!!! So I looked up the details and found that the visitor centre was open from 11.30 to 3.30 7 days a week. Since there was spare time on the Saturday, off I went. The visitor centre is in an old windmill and has a good shop, bar (!!!), restaurant and historical area as well as a meeting room. Brewery website is at http://www.bateman.co.uk/
My new brother in law had left a case of XXXB in my room, so I didn't buy any of that, but bought some Combined Harvest and an Autumn beer, both of which were brewed from a variety of cereals and are designed to satisfy the female palate as well as the male. I've had Victory and Dark Lord in the past, but one of my favourites is Rosey Nosey, a Christmas beer.
Perhaps I should wear the T shirt on the next pub meet!

I am one of the many people who with a lot of amusement read the "maidenbower estate" forum. And it is one of those little websites that can really make you chuckle when reading what goes through the minds of some people. About 10 days ago someone started the thread about the police helicopter flying low over the maidenbower estate. Well nothing new really though it's not a daily occurence either that the police helicopter is flying over. Being right next to the M23 hasn't crossed anyone's mind either. Oh, well never mind. But this time it really bothered some people and this HAD to be discussed with fellow forum users. First the question was "why was it flying over so low?" Hmmm the answer was given by another forum user, look onto the police website and hey presto it tells you 'stolen motor vehicle, ground unit recovered'. Now that is a fantastic result you would think? Can imagine the owner of the car must be pleased to get it back? Well he/she will but in the eyes of one forum user it is a complete waste of time! Wonder if it was their car that was stolen if they would feel the same? Maybe not, they think it is more priority to get the helicopter out when there are boy racers in Tilgate. Might call them up and ask if they can send the helicopter out for when I need to do my foodshop!

Agreed to get out and about to the FHF and went with a friend. Was looking busy, but the bar was reasonably clear and settled down to a pint of Harveys. Stayed for a few houes with two other firends and so had a few beers! All good. Atmosphere in the pub was buzzing, really good. No trouble, no shouting, no smoke and no TV. Bliss! Surprised when they rang for time at 11.00. A good evening. When's the next one?

A great day weather wise on Sunday. Time for a long dog walk. Usually Tilgate, but a friend had invited us to Nymans. Had to queue to get in and wait for a parking space! Three labradors bounding down the track and making their way to the lake for a good swim. A good walk with some steep hills. Lots of people and the dogs behaved themselves with the little ones around. Still a queue to get in when we left!
I am looking to a buy a tree bedroom home in Maidenbower, ideally in Benjamin Road, Parnell Close, Shaftsbury Road. Basically within 5 minutes walking distance from Maidenbower shops and school. I am a cash buyer with nothing to sell and no restrictions on moving. Please let me know if you know of anyone looking to sell.
I've joined another Social networking site, Why?
I've got one friend on Facebook , well she wants to be my friend I don't know her, she looks to be about 17. I expect its the police trying to entrape a poor old pensioner, but if its not I think I let her down gently if I send her my picture I don't think she will be too disappointed,
But maybe just maybe shes a Geriatrophile and she is 18 or over.
This weekend I have seen a heron and some ruddy darters (dragonflies) by the lake, and a signal crayfish in the stream.
Is it just me??? The Frogs Hole food was wonderful when it just reopened. The menu was fabulous, really tasty and lots of variety.
Recently we went in there & asked for a Burger. Received a burger 45 mins later which was overcooked (and I mean you could break it in two like a piece of cardboard), dry, asked for chips and got some kind of anaemic looking plate of sticks.
Thought... well it was just a one off. Went the following day (Tuesday evening) and asked for the Pork. Received a piece of Pork with a limp rind and again anaemic chips.
Went again the following Tuesday and asked for Burger again. Received a very dry burger (again, you could break it in two with a snap) and more anaemic chips. We mentioned it to the waitress (who was a very nice young lady) and was told, "oh your food was waiting on the side for 15 mins, I don't know why?"
Wheres the original chef gone?
Its so local to us and we would love to eat in there more often, but am now walking an extra few mins to get to the Hillside for some decent food. We would love to eat in the Frogs Hole again, but after mentioning each incident to the waitress, its just not getting the message across... is it just me?
I write as a concerned parent and resident of Carter Road, I witnessed a young lad of around 15/16 years old being attacked. He was punched to the ground whilst he was walking away with his hands in this pockets, it was evident he was not part of this group. Further to this incident the police were called on two seperate occassions due to in-access of 18/20 teenagers who were drunk and disorderly within Carter Road, throwing glass bottles under vehicles, shouting, screeming, swearing and fighting.
The behaviour residents witnessed was appalling. Parents of Maienbower need to be made aware that if their child was within Carter Road they were involved and or witnessed a nasty attack, where I am sure this poor lad will have black eyes and possibly a head injury where he landed in the road.
If you are the parents of the lad who was attacked please do not hesitate to contact me, this was not your son's fault.
A huge thank you to the two Children who turned up at my house on Sunday afternoon and returned my wallet that was lost two weeks ago whilst I was playing with my little lad at the swings.
I wasn't at the house as I was working and my wife didn't have any money on her.
If your reading this or you know who the children are please come back to the house you dropped the wallet off at, and pick up a reward!
Thanks once again
